Chase The River – ‘We Were Giants’

Belfast-based band Chase The River, have released their excellent EP ‘We Were Giants’ in July 2020. It is an alternative-rock classic that we thoroughly recommend listening to this summer.

‘Just A Show’ opens the release. It has a driving and engaging nature from the get-go. The vocals are filled with character and charm. We love the layered instrumentation that fills the sonic spectrum.

‘Saying Goodbye’ is a melodic and compelling song. The layered guitars create colour and harmony within the piece too. ‘Brother’ closes the release, it is an acoustic song that shines in the light in which it was written.

Chase The River Comments

Chase The River say about the release, “For the 1st time, this is 100% self-produced. Stuart, being the quasi control freak he is, decided he wanted a crack at production, so wrote, recorded, mixed and mastered everything.” They Continue, “The really stupid thing about this is, we have a full other five songs ready to drop, which we recorded in 2019, which are coming very very soon. But, having been away for two years, we wanted to come back with something that was absolutely us, with no influence elsewhere in the process.”

Chase The River is comprised of band members, Stuart Lunn – Vocals, guitar, synth/keys, Adam Bell – Bass, and Keith Conway – Drums. Separately, they are excellent musicians. However, when they come together, magic happens.

Previously, the band supported Feeder and The Fun Lovin Criminals last year in Holywood (County down). Also, they have played in the Copenhagen songwriters festival, Sunflower fest and headlined Q radio summer sessions in 2019.

Chase The River is a brilliant band who we know will continue to make superb music. Check out ‘We Were Giants’ from the link below.
