Chork – ‘Old New Love’

Chork (AKA Charlie Gibson) is an indie-rock musician hailing from Belper, UK. He has teamed up with drummer Ben Bevan to release the superb single, ‘Old New Love’.

A stoic kick drum opens the release; it comes to feel like the heartbeat of the song. We love the lead vocals which effortlessly guide the single along. Filled with charm and character, the vocals are charged with warm tones. The chorus melody is memorable and driving. Also, the energetic electric guitar adds a new layer of texture to the piece. The layered vocals are also filled with colour, gracing the song in a rich quality.

Chork Talks About the Single

Chork says about the release, “The track was written off the back of a very painful and heartbreaking break up, and it’s a real expression of how difficult but consoling it is to still be in love with no contact. The early 00’s Indie-Rock scene has heavily influenced the guitar parts with obvious influences from The Libertines and the Strokes.”

When asked about the recording process of the great tune, the duo says, “The single ‘Old New Love’ was written and produced in Charlie’s home studio (We call it the shedio) in his garden in Belper, Derbyshire. Charlie recorded and self-produced the whole track, and Ben plays the drums for it when we play live. The recording process works quite well as it’s just Charlie getting on with it and doing his thing.”

Conclusion

So make sure you add ‘Old New Love’ to your weekend playlist. It is a song that will have you reaching for the repeat button. Chork is an exciting artist who we look forward to hearing more from in the future.
