Church, Honey – ‘Pity Sex’
Church, Honey (AKA Ben James Miller) is a songwriter, and guitarist hailing from Middlesbrough. His latest release, ‘Pity Sex’ is an indie-pop classic in the making.
A gentle opening greets the listener before a beautiful piano and drum beat break through. The emotive vocals have been carefully crafted and executed. We are sure that the lyrics will resonate with a lot of people. We loved the big chorus, which is moving and engaging. There is an honesty in the performance that is compelling and thoroughly addictive.
Miller says, “The song is about the last night spent with an ex-lover before you go your separate ways.” He continues, “It is a passion-fuelled plea for one last moment of hazy-normality before clarity sinks in and you both go to live the rest of your lives apart.” Miller concludes, “This song is a huge, passionate song inspired by big stadium music – this project will be much more introspective and daring than previous material.”
‘Pity Sex’ was recorded at Young Thugs Studio in York with Jonny Hooker over two sessions. Jonny also provided additional keys, drums and produced the track. Together the duo has created a single which will win the hearts of its listeners. Church, Honey is a new project for 2020 for Miller. He is occasionally joined by Andrew Jones (Bruto, John & the Ragmen) & Simon Shaw (Bruto, Cape Cub) who Miller has been playing with for six years.
So, make sure you add ‘Pity Sex’ to your weekend listening. We are so excited to have heard Church, Honey and we are confident he will be making waves through 2020 and beyond.
