Come on Hero released their magnificent debut single ‘Residue’, at the end of 2019. It is a catchy and impacting song which leaves the listener wanting more.
A solo electric guitar opens the single before a massive full band sound kicks in. Backing vocals are the first vocals to be heard, and they instantly inject the track with warmth and heart. The main vocals take the lead underpinned by luscious guitar riffs. The vocals are filled with emotion and passion. There is a lot of texture in the instrumentation taking the song in new and enticing directions. We loved the catchy chorus and memorable bridge too.
Come on Hero say, “‘Residue‘ tells the story of two broken people going through a failed experiment called love. The analogy with a failed scientific experiment is made explicit throughout the song, with lyrics like ‘there’s no chemistry in broken hearts’, and ‘be the residue of a burnt-out love’. While the song initially gives a perspective of hope and not giving up, it sadly ends by realising that ‘I will have to continue without you’. They are moving and deeply relatable lyrics that are destined to resonate with a lot of people.
Hailing from the Netherlands, Come on Hero are comprised of band members Rim Steijvers (vocals), Ruud van Sloun (guitars), Job Verdonschot (bass), and Niels Janssen (drums). Working with internationally renowned producer Ken Andrews (most known for his work with Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, and Stone Temple Pilots), the team have created a piece of art that we believe will stand the test of time.
So make sure you add ‘Residue’ to your weekend playlist. Come on Hero are an exciting band who are destined for big things this decade.
