Daniel John – ‘Sudden Spring’

Hailing from Wilkes-Barre, Daniel John is an indie-folk artist whose latest EP ‘Sudden Spring’ is a must-hear release this summer 2020.

‘Endless Mountains’ opens the release to a gorgeously picked guitar. John’s earnest voice fills the sonic spectrum, and the two smoothly drive the song along. His tone is rich and warm, effortlessly captivating the audience.

The title track ‘Sudden Spring’ feels like the dawning of the day. The layered synths create calm in the track, and the song evolves with the listener.

When asked, John says about ‘Sudden Spring’, “The song to me represents the tenderness of spring and the feelings I have for my partner. In all the good and bad there’s still something to be hopeful about. There’s still peace to be found. Everything still feels like a beginning.”

‘Smallmouth Bass’ swims into the sonic landscape and is an addictive instrumental. Finally, ‘At The Big River Flat’ closes the release. It is an intoxicating song built from nature sounds and leaves the listener wanting more.

John Comments

John says about the EP writing, “My tendencies have always drifted towards indulgence and excess. For once I felt I was taking a step back. My focus shifted towards restraint. The EP turned into a brief meditation.”

Previously, we covered John’s excellent single ‘Pexel Queens’, which can be viewed, here. He is a talented writer, and we have very much enjoyed hearing a full EP release. One thing is for sure; Daniel John is an artist to watch in the 2020s.

So make sure you add ‘Sudden Spring’ to your weekday playlist. Daniel John is an exciting artist, and we very much look forward to hearing what he will do next. Until then, ‘Sudden Spring’ is available to enjoy from the link below.
