Edwina van Kuyk – ‘Hurt For Me’
‘Hurt For Me’ is the brilliant debut release by Irish troubadour Edwina van Kuyk. This single is a folk-pop release that sets Edwina van Kuyk apart from the crowd.
Edwina van Kuyk’s gorgeous vocals open the piece. Her voice is filled with heart and soul and captivates the audience instantly. We adore her piano and cello performances too, they are the perfect accompaniment.
The layered vocals add extra texture to the piece, and we adore the stripped back arrangement that lets the song shine in the light in which it was written. The main hook in the melody is memorable and stays with the listener long after the music has ended. Simply Magical.
‘Hurt For Me’ was recorded during lockdown with Aine Gallagher, Gregory Hall & Dave Doyle, and Conor McLoughlin Mixed it. Finally the single was mastered by Pete Maher (Katy Perry, U2, The Rolling Stones). Together the team have created a piece of art that will stand the test of time.
Edwina van Kuyk is an alumnus of BIMM Dublin. She has gigged around many venues and was named ‘Best Newcomer’ by The Circle Sessions in 2019. She is destined for big things in the 2020s and ‘Hurt For Me’ is proof of that.
This may be the first time that you have heard of Edwina van Kuyk, but we are sure that it will not be the last. She is an artist who emanates passion and makes the audience feel like she is speaking directly to them.
We recommend adding ‘Hurt For Me’ to your weekend playlist. In addition, 50% of the proceeds from ‘Hurt For Me’ for 2020 will go directly to MASI (The Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland).
Edwina van Kuyk is an exciting talent, and we very much look forward to hearing what she will do next.
