Erick Oscar Finds Hope Through Hardship on ‘Hold The Light’

Erick Oscar wrote ‘Hold The Light’ for his wife, who lives with fibromyalgia and the daily pain it can bring. When doctors could offer few answers, he turned to songwriting to express what he saw: difficult days, uncertainty and the strength it takes to keep going.

The result is a personal song shaped by love and a prayer for hope. Born in Panamá and now based in the United States, Erick has spent more than three decades playing acoustic guitar and writing songs. His music moves between languages and genres, but this release begins with someone close to home.

‘Hold The Light’

The title track opens with atmospheric acoustic guitar, drawing the listener in before the vocals arrive. We adore its relatable lyrics and memorable melodies. ‘Still Ridin’ On’ takes the album in a fresh direction with gorgeous arrangements and excellent storytelling.

‘Total Package’ is a favourite, fuelled by upbeat chord progressions and driving beats. Meanwhile, ‘It’s Over’ offers a reflective moment, complete with passionate performances, heartfelt lyrics and magnetic melodies.

Finally, ‘Abraza a Tus Amigos Esta Noche’ closes the release on a high and will have you reaching for the repeat button. ‘Hold The Light’ is an album that showcases Erick Oscar’s range. We can’t wait to hear more.

A Personal Song with a Message of Hope

Across the album, Erick moves between intimate ballads and more upbeat moments while keeping the songwriting at the forefront. The title track remains its emotional heart: an acknowledgement of his wife’s pain and an expression of hope for the days ahead. Its acoustic guitar, piano and gospel-style choir give that message room to breathe.

After writing more than 1,200 songs, Erick still finds something personal to say. ‘Hold The Light’ shows how a song written for one person can connect with listeners facing struggles of their own.
