Evil Black – ‘Windows’
Asheville-based artist Evil Black has released the stunning indie-pop single ‘Windows’ in mid-2020. It is an emotional release that will have the listener reaching for the repeat button!
An atmospheric opening greets the listener before Evil Black’s emotional and moving vocals enter. We adore the use of delay on the vocals, which adds texture within the piece. The slowly evolving instrumentation adds colour and intrigue to the single too.

The chorus is catchy and compelling. The infectious vibe continues in the second verse too. Lyrically, ‘Windows’ is relatable and this is part of the charm which connects the artist with his audience.
Comments
Evil Black says about the release, “The song Windows is about moving forward, seeing the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ after a period or even a lifetime of hardship, anxiety, and depression.”
‘Windows’ was recorded in a home studio in North West Carolina. It was written, produced, and performed by Evil Black (AKA Nick Norton). Formally of the band Running on E, Norton is an exciting talent and we love the vibe of this single.
When asked, Norton cites his influences as “Outkast, Eryka Badu, and Jannelle Monae who challenge the nature of the genre as well as alternative artists like Andy Hull/Manchester Orchestra, the Shins, and producers like Dangermouse and J Dilla.”
Forthcoming EP
We are so excited to see that Evil Black has a full EP due to drop in the Fall of 2020. It is entitled ‘Analog’ and based on the strength of ‘Windows’, we very much look forward to listening to the release.
So make sure you add ‘Windows’ to your weekday playlist. This is an exciting artist, and we very much look forward to hearing what will come next!
