American singer/songwriter Forrest Hill has released his superb latest album, ‘River of Stars’ in May 2020.
‘Million Miles’ opens the release with a luscious groove and rich horns. The main riff is infectious and paves away for Forrest Hill’s vocals to breakthrough. We love the backing vocals which add further weight to the piece.
‘Crazy Days’ has a mysterious opening with a darker feel than the previous tracks. We love the driving percussion, which gives their unique texture to the piece. We adored ‘Floats Away’, it features a beautifully picked guitar. A magnificently played cello accompanies this and instantly, the listener is drawn into the song. The title track features poetical lyrics and gorgeous backing instrumentation, making it a stand out song.
Forrest Hill says about the release, “‘River of Stars’ is the follow-up album to last year’s ‘ShadowLight’ and 2016’s ‘Rust’ albums. Both albums spent over two months on the college radio music charts and garnered TV licensing agreements on TLC network, The Discovery Network, The Netflix series ‘Bill Nye Saves the World’ and several other venues.”
Citing his influences as coming from Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Paul Simon, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, James Taylor, to name a few. We can hear these influences coming through on ‘River of Stars’, but make no mistake, Forrest Hill is making music all of his own.
Singer, songwriter and guitarist, Forrest Hill, began writing music while hitchhiking across the country through post-Vietnam America. He has a rich back catalogue of music and ‘River of Stars’ is an exciting addition. We very much look forward to hearing what he will do next.
