Glass Violet – ‘Hourglass’

Bristol-based band Glass Violet have released the excellent alternative-rock single ‘Hourglass’, in March 2021. It is a superb release that needs to be heard this Spring.

A textured and inviting opening greets the listener, and a full band sound soon joins it. We adore the driving nature of the track; it keeps the audience’s attention effortlessly. Also, lyrically, ‘Hourglass’ is filled with interest and intrigue.

We love the mix, master and production of ‘Hourglass’. Every part of the layered instrumentation has its own space in the mix and shines brightly.

The chorus is catchy, and it will have the listener reach for the repeating button. Glass Violet knows how to write a hit, and they are certainly onto a winner with ‘Hourglass’.

Glass Violet is comprised of band members, Tom Hurdiss (Vocals, Guitar), Alex John (Guitar, Vocals), Matt West (Drums), Josh Walsh (Bass) & Declan Pollard (Keys/Synth). They are all excellent musicians separately, but when they come together, magic happens!

Influences

Glass Violet cites their influences as coming from artists such as Idles and Joy Division. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Hourglass’ but make no mistake; Glass Violet is making music all of their own.

‘Hourglass’ is the fourth single to be released by this exciting group. After hearing this latest release, we can not wait to check out their back-catalogue too! This single is destined to win the band an army of new fans.

We thoroughly recommend checking out ‘Hourglass’ this weekend. Glass Violet are a talented band with a bright future ahead of them. We very much look forward to hearing what they will do next.

Until then, ‘Hourglass’ is available to stream from the link below; enjoy!
