Grant Nesmith – ‘Dreams Of The Coast’

‘Dreams Of The Coast’ is the superb debut album by South Carolina-based artist Grant Nesmith. It is a wonderful Americana release with a lot of heart.

‘Never Die’ opens the album and is instantly enticing from the get-go. It is a brilliant introduction as to what is to come. We adore ‘Another Day’ it is immediately compelling, and Nesmith’s vocals gracefully guide the song along.

The title track is a standout song. It is filled with texture which fills the sonic spectrum. In addition, the layered vocals inject a luscious colour into the piece too.

‘Wish’ takes the album into a fresh direction and features gorgeous and layered instrumentation. ‘Such a Crime’ closes the release and leaves the listener wanting more!

Nesmith says about the album, “‘Dreams Of The Coast’ is definitely my sunshine, summer record. It was written and recorded during the Summer of 2020.” He continues, “I live a block from the Atlantic Ocean, and the studio is only two blocks away from the beach! A lot of the songs have a similar theme of waves, the ebb and flow of the tide, the sun, and outdoor scenery.”

Superb musicians have joined Grant Nesmith on the release. They include Ed Dennis: Pedal Steel, Guitar, Vocals, Sadler Vaden: Guitar, Slide, Gene Elders: Fiddle, Bruce James: Bass, Trumpet, Vocals, Cole Rateliff: Drums, Ken Thomas: Drums and Nell Ciaccio: Vocals. Together, they have crafted an album which will stand the test of time.

Nesmith cites his influences as coming from musicians such as; The Beatles, Willie Nelson, Grateful Dead, Dinosaur Jr., Gram Parsons, Radiohead, CSNY, and Uncle Tupelo. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Dreams Of The Coast’ but make no mistake; Grant Nesmith is making music all of his own.
