THE WHISPERING is quickly carving out a distinct space within modern heavy music, blending cinematic atmosphere, classic heavy metal energy, and darker alternative influences into something that feels both immersive and unpredictable. Fronted by Lucian and featuring musicians connected to legendary acts including Megadeth, Soilwork, Dissection, and Scarve, the project balances theatrical intensity with deeply reflective themes surrounding humanity, spirituality, environmental collapse, and personal transformation.
Their latest release, THE WHISPERING – PART 1, introduces listeners to a world filled with mysticism, raw emotion, and fever-dream energy, while laying the groundwork for a much larger creative vision still to come. From recording together in the French countryside to drawing inspiration from fire performance, mythology, and underground metal culture, THE WHISPERING approaches music as both ritual and rebellion. In this interview, Lucian opens up about the origins of the band, the deeper meaning behind the music, and what fans can expect from the full self-titled album arriving later in 2026.
THE WHISPERING blends classic heavy metal energy with darker alternative influences and cinematic atmosphere. When you first started building the project, what was the core vision you wanted listeners to immediately feel when entering this world?
It’s Lucian, thank you for this conversation 🙂 The Whispering was born in fire.
My time as a Cirque fire performer gave me a feeling of danger and freedom. The excitement felt in these moments inspired a new musical expression. Music that feels dangerous and unpredictable. My vision for The Whispering is to excite a fever dream of racing through the dark, a triumphant and treacherous adventure.
Lucian, your lyrics are described as challenging injustice, hypocrisy, and oppression. How much of THE WHISPERING is rooted in personal experiences versus broader observations about the modern world?
It’s easy and often more desirable to disconnect from a chaotic and calamitous world. I myself spend much of my time comfortably alone. I also feel the calling as a citizen of the planet and humanity to stand against the injustice and ignorance that will inevitably be our collective demise.
How long will woman be subjected to religious dogma that suppresses their rights, bodily autonomy and equality?
People’s self-serving ignorance and entitlement to the destruction of the environment.
The indifferent torture of animals, factory farming.
These are urgent issues that signal my attention beyond my own personal dramas.

The opening self-titled track immediately introduces cryptic whispering voices and an almost supernatural atmosphere. What inspired the concept behind “THE WHISPERING” as both a song and the identity of the band itself?
The Whispering is the subtle truth in plain sight, the answer in your heart that awaits recognition. Above and below, the social distortion and noise pollution whisper a wisdom, a breath of calm in the chaos.
Looking closer and lingering longer, see what’s behind the veil.
In the spirit of unveiling, the title track offers an urgent observation of a fate-defiant world in denial. Nature is whispering/screaming clearly, are we listening?

With musicians connected to bands like Megadeth, Soilwork, Dissection, and Scarve involved, how did you balance each member’s musical legacy while still creating something that feels completely unique to THE WHISPERING?
From the uncompromising noncompliance and witchy undertones, each of these bands has greatly inspired the sound of The Whispering.
We came together as a band with common influences and a passion for wicked music. Having legacy members of these legendary groups is a great honour, and I can’t help but revel in what we are creating together! As a pupil of metal music, I am grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the artists who have illuminated the path and do our part to keep the light burning.
The EP was recorded at Besco Recording Studios in France over the course of 2025. What was the recording environment like, and how important was it to capture a raw, organic energy rather than something overly polished?
Recording at studio Besco in the French countryside was an ideal scenario for a band whose members live on different continents. Living and working under the same roof for a week both bonded us as a group and melded our sound. We were isolated and focused; it was a brilliant experience!
We wanted to capture the raw sound of a band playing together. The collective energy and conversation between instruments exploding in the moment and recorded masterfully with Dan McConomy behind the mixing board. It was a thrilling process!!
Lucian, your background performing with Cirque du Soleil and major live productions feels worlds away from underground heavy metal. How has that experience shaped the theatrical and immersive side of THE WHISPERING’s live identity?
The Cirque world is one of theatrical articulation, death-defying acts and tragedy.
Not dissimilar to the world of Metal.
Throwing shapes and lighting my guitar on fire was just another day at the office in the circus. Now I have a band of metal titans to go beyond the dance and into the unknown.
Songs like “LIFE AFTER GOD” and “EVIL EYE” suggest themes that are philosophical, spiritual, and confrontational. Were there any particular ideas, books, or real-world events that heavily influenced the writing process for this record?
Some lyrics are reflective, some are projected emotions, and some are momentary windows into my own personal journey.
I am a seeker, and I have developed an obsession with reality and finding happiness in chaos.
I find mythology and mysticism offer an alternative perspective to real life, and in the same breath can distort reality, leading people to pain and misunderstanding.
My lyrics are somewhere in the middle of this paradox.
Dirk and Tobias both play key roles in the rhythm section across the project and live performances. How did having two highly respected drummers involved influence the overall sound and intensity of the album?
Aside from being two of my favourite drummers in metal, they are brilliant friends and have enhanced this experience greatly!
When I first heard the Dissection Live Legacy record, I was instantly drawn to the energy and danger searing from the speakers. Tobias’s drumming was blazing, and I wanted to ignite my own music with the same fire.
Even from the first demos he would send from Sweden, I could hear and feel that sound.
Dirk is a savant on the drums.
His precision and feel are effortless.
I introduced him to the songs with some basic guitar and vocal guide demos, from which he melded our styles together and elevated the music beyond!
I continue to draw inspiration from both of them and am honoured to collaborate with these metal legends!!
There’s a strong sense throughout the EP that THE WHISPERING is building a larger mythology and universe rather than simply releasing standalone songs. How much thought has gone into the lore, symbolism, and visual storytelling surrounding the project?
The Whispering is a band of witches. Our personal inspirations may vary, but our belief in the conjuring of sound and stirring spirit is paramount. My partner Fawn and I are avid spooky seekers; we travel to haunted locations and find balance in the natural and supernatural. Ritual and intention are staples in our home. We are a part of a larger community of alchemists and shapeshifters. The music is a vehicle for the mystery.

THE WHISPERING – PART 1 feels like the opening chapter of something much bigger. What can fans expect emotionally and musically from the full self-titled album arriving later in 2026?
It was a challenge separating the EP from the album. It has been a dream come true writing, recording, and birthing this music to the world.
Releasing the full-length record will complete the vision. Songs still to come have some deeply personal themes, some extra heavy moments and delicate interludes. This is our first record as a band, and we are excited to be sharing it with you!!
More divinely devilish music to come.
