Jane Allison – ‘Magdalene’

Bath-based musician, Jane Allison has kick-started 2021 with the fantastic single ‘Magdalene’. It is a folk-pop release with a big heart.

An upbeat opening greets the listener. It is instantly enticing and draws the audience in. We adore the electric guitar which is filled with colour and groove.

Jane Allison’s soulful vocals enter, and the troubadour’s compelling lyrics capture the listener’s attention. She is a wonderful storyteller who easily conveys feelings and emotion.

We adore the main melody to ‘Magdalene’ which stays with the listener long after the music has ended. In addition, we love the chordal progressions, which inject further interest and intrigue into the piece. It is simply wonderful!

Allison says about the release, “Magdalene, (is) a bohemian princess dancing through the summer of love, the quintessence of freedom and abandon, offering a window on a long-forgotten past, a reminder of simpler times.”

Alonza Bevan

‘Magdalene’ has been masterfully produced by Alonza Bevan (Kula Shaker). Together, the duo have crafted a release that firmly sets Jane Allison as an artist to watch in 2021.

We are so excited to see that Allison has her third album due for release later this year. After hearing ‘Magdalene’, we can not wait for the full release to drop. Follow Jane Allison’s socials below to be the first to hear about new releases.

So make sure you make a note of the name Jane Allison. It may be the first time you have heard it, but we are sure that it will not be the last. ‘Magdalene’ is a single release which needs to be added to your playlist this week!
