Josh Geffin – ‘Islands’
Hailing from London, musician Josh Geffin has released the brilliant EP ‘Islands’ today, 27th November 2020. It is a wonderful Americana release that is set to make waves this winter 2020.
The title track opens the release to a gorgeously played acoustic guitar. We adore Geffin’s rich and soulful vocal performance that demands the listener’s attention. The gorgeous vocals harmonies inject fresh colour into the piece too.
‘Holy Road To Nowhere’ features a beautiful piano and a delicate arrangement in the beginning. As the drums enter the song is in full flow. The brilliant chordal progressions set the piece alight, and we adore the intelligent arrangement.
‘Pages’ is another compelling track. The intricate guitar work is skilful and detailed. Finally, ‘Falter’ closes the release and leaves the listener wanting more!
Josh Geffin says about the release, “It feels like a homecoming, to write and release my own songs again, to put fledgeling musical ideas into finished form. This is the most fully realised I’ve ever heard my songs.”
Josh Geffin has previously been compared to Nick Drake, John Martyn and Bert Jansch. After hearing ‘Islands’, we can see why! Any of these superb artists would be in good company with Josh Geffin but make no mistake, Geffin is making music all of his own!
