Lucy Wroe – ‘Thoughts On A Dream’
London based musician Lucy Wroe has released her magnificent latest EP ‘Thoughts On A Dream’, in July 2020. It is a folk-pop release that will win the hearts of its listeners.
‘Of the Night’ opens the release and gently swims into the sonic landscape. We adore Wroe’s intoxicating vocal. She has an addictive tone that draws the listener in and holds their attention effortlessly. We have added ‘Of the Night’ to our playlist, check it out below.
‘It Could Be’ has a slower feel with jazzy undertones. We found ‘Ode to an Empress’ to be deeply moving. Its stripped-back instrumentation lets the song shine in the light in which it was written. ‘The Cycle’ closes the release and leaves the listener wanting more!
The whole of ‘Thoughts on a Dream’ was written, recorded and produced in the Covid-19 lockdown by Lucy Wroe alongside her partner and producer Tom Berry. Engineer Philip Marsden mastered the EP, and Wroe’s brother played some of the guitar parts. Together, they have done an excellent job in creating a piece of art that will stand the test of time.
Wroe says about the release, “‘Thoughts on a Dream’ was written around the concept of dreams and the feelings that can be had in dreams. It also explores how someone might prefer to live in dreams rather than reality and how this affects being awake, and the way (I) feel about family, relationships and inspirations.” She continues “The style throughout moves from pop to jazz to a freer folk and more acoustic singer-songwriter, and this is also a reflection of the unpredictability of both life and dreams.”
So make sure you check out ‘Thoughts On A Dream’ from the link below. Lucy Wroe is an exciting talent, and we very much look forward to hearing what she will do next! The 2020s are going to be a significant decade for this songstress.
