Me for Queen (AKA Mary Erskine), is back with her superb latest release, ‘Valentine (Heart Attack)’ and what an exciting song it is.
Me for Queen’s vocals shine from the beginning of the song. Filled with emotion and passion, she effortlessly guides the single along. Rich melodies take unexpected twists and turns with excellent keys playing, supporting the vocal performance. ‘Valentine (Heart Attack)’ evolves before the listener, like a new dawn arriving. We loved the chorus, which is addictive and is destined to have the listener reaching for the repeat button!
Me for Queen says of the release, “Before I had my son, Duncan, at the end of 2018, I’d started a writing project with Alva Leigh (formerly of Lewis and Leigh). We weren’t sure where it was going to end up, but we liked the idea of sharing some ideas around pregnancy/new motherhood as this was something we were both going through and liked the idea of a writing project as a conversation between friends, encouraging one and other along the road.” She continues, “As otherwise, the music industry doesn’t always feel like the most welcoming or understanding place for new mothers.” We are sure many people can relate to this across other industries too.
Me for Queen released her debut solo album, ‘Loose End’ in September 2018 and has gone from strength to strength ever since. Her song, ‘Jessica’ was included on Spotify UK’s playlist, ‘The Most Beautiful Songs in the World’ and has racked up over 100,000 plays. All roads have lead to the release of ‘Valentine (Heart Attack)’ and we can not wait to see what she will do next.
We thoroughly recommend hiding away from Storm Dennis this weekend and checking out Me for Queen. She is destined to please existing fans and win an army of new ones with ‘Valentine (Heart Attack)’, we can not wait to listen to her back catalogue too.
