Monroe Moon – ‘Greener’

Hailing from Grand Rapids in the United States, Monroe Moon is a band who have released the great single ‘Greener’, in February 2021. It is an indie-rock release with a lot of soul.

Nature sounds open the release before an intoxicating bass and drums kick in. We adore the evolution of the single before the listener. Layered and textured instrumentation pave the wave for the rich and passionate vocals to breakthrough.

The chorus features layered vocals which add texture and colour to the piece. It is memorable and intoxicating. In addition, the synth instrumental break is unexpected and takes the song in a fresh direction.

We love the intelligent composition and arrangement of ‘Greener’. It is engaging and holds the audience’s attention effortlessly. One thing is for sure; Monroe Moon know how to write a classic song!

Band Members

Monroe Moon are comprised of band members Bunny Monroe: Keys, Vocals, Lyrics, Theo Malkin: Guitar, Austin Ruhstorfer: Synth, Production, Tim Strother: Drums and Justin Johnson: Bass. They are a group who clearly play well separately, but when they come together, magic happens!

When asked what ‘Greener’ was about, Monroe Moon replied, “Peace, Love, & Freedom.” This comes through on the single and connects the band to their audience.

Monroe Moon cites their influences as coming from artists such as Portishead, Imogen Heap, Polica, Chopin, and Cocteau Twins. We can hear these influences coming through on ‘Greener’ but make no mistake, Monroe Moon is a band who are making music all of their own.

We recommend checking out ‘Greener’ this weekend. Monroe Moon is a band who are pushing forward in 2020, and we look forward to hearing what it is that they will do next.
