Mortimer Jackson – ‘Feel The Roar’

*See disclosure here

One of FVMusicBlog’s favourite artists is back! Mortimer Jackson has returned with his superb new ska inspired single ‘Feel The Roar’, and it is an exhilarating listen.

A laid back groove establishes itself instantly from the opening notes of the release. We loved the layered vocals on the bridge, they elevate the single, creating interest and intrigue, and keeping the listener fully engaged. The unusual chordal progression on the chorus is utterly addictive and compelling. It is what sets ‘Feel The Roar’ apart from the crowd. Mortimer Jackson is an innovating artist who is pushing the boundaries of alternative indie rock and leading the field in the genre.

Mortimer Jackson says, “(The Single) features trippy, dubby guitars with trombones inspired by The Specials in the Verses and driving guitars with big vocal harmonies in the Choruses. ‘Feel The Roar’ is about being lost in a mystical, surreal haze then suddenly waking up in reality.”

Mortimer Jackson was raised listening to Bob Dylan & Chuck Berry in the foothills of Glastonbury. His Britpop inspired school band were hand-picked by Michael Eavis to play Pilton Party supporting the Lightning Seeds and Gomez. The following year they went on to play the festival itself. At University Jackson found himself in a new band, with appearances on Soccer AM, MTV and Radio 1 to name but a few, touring with The Hold Steady, and even getting invited to play XFM’s 10-year anniversary party supporting The Stereophonics.

Hailing from London, Mortimer Jackson is a special artist who keeps releasing excellent tunes. So make sure you check out ‘Feel The Roar’ today. It is a song to cheer up your lockdown week!
