Movie Club – ‘Black Flamingo’
Hailing from California, Movie Club have released their brilliant latest album ‘Black Flamingo’ today, 27th November 2020. It is a hard rock release that needs to be heard!
The title track is a standout song. A full and rich band sound greets the listener. We adore the melodic bass, staccato guitars and grounding drums. ‘Black Flamingo’ evolves with the listener, building in intensity before pulling back to let new instruments take the lead. We adore the rise and fall in the piece; it adds texture to the track and takes the listener in new directions. The violin adds its unmistakable charm too!
We also enjoyed ‘Phantasm’ it is an attention-demanding track with intoxicating melodies to boot. ‘Thunder’ is a song which is filled with colour and an ever-evolving vibe. ‘Minehunter’ has a driving feel from the get-go. The varied and layered guitars work harmoniously together in creating an addictive groove. ‘Torpedo’ features big, driving guitars and a stoic rhythm section. The main riff is intoxicating and stays with the audience long after the music has ended.
Movie Club’s drummer Violet says, “There aren’t many niches left these days, I feel fortunate to be in a project that’s not afraid to do something different with full force. We want to include everyone, and instrumental music breaks all boundaries.” Objective achieved! Movie Club is an innovative band who are pushing boundaries and making waves.
Jeff Thompson/Mike Tucci
In addition, ‘Black Flamingo’ was mixed in Los Angeles by Jeff Thompson and mastered by Mike Tucci. Together, the team have done an excellent job in creating an album that is rich in heart and will stand the test of time.
So make sure you add ‘Black Flamingo’ to your weekend playlist. Movie Club is a band who are on the up, and we are confident that 2021 is going to be a big year for them. We very much look forward to hearing what they will do next.
