We caught up with musician Kete Bowers following the release of the superb album ‘Paper Ships’.
Tell us about yourself?
I am a singer-songwriter born in Birkenhead across the river from Liverpool.
What is your songwriting process?
I started writing in 2010 I signed a one-album deal to record my album ‘Paper Ships’ in 2019.
It was recorded in Toronto, Canada at The Cowboy Junkies Studio ‘The Hanger’ and was produced by Michael Timmins of the Cowboy Junkies.

Tell us about your latest release?
The songs on ‘Paper Ships’ are about Birkenhead and Liverpool from around 1978 to 1985 when I left the area.
Who are your musical influences?
I listen to as much music as I can the list is long but to pick just a few would be Dylan, Cohen, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Bert Jansch, Folk and rock music etc, etc.
What are your hopes for the next two years?
The virus that has caused almost everything to grind to a halt and left most people in isolation.
It has given me a focus to start writing my next album, my long time friend drummer Malcolm Holmes from OMD and I have decided to work together remotely (me from Essex UK and him from his studio in Germany).
He will be laying some drum tracks to the new songs, and hopefully, these demos will get some interest from labels and allow us to get back to the studio in the near future and get another album release.
