We were lucky enough to interview Rossini following the excellent release of ‘Heartbreaker’. Enjoy!
What is your earliest music memory?
I was named after my father’s favourite composer, Gioachino Rossini, so my earliest memory was having a piano at the house and me playing on it as before I could even speak full sentences.
Who influenced your latest release Heartbreaker?
HEARTBREAK influenced ‘Heartbreaker’. It was one of those nights where I was messing around with the keyboard on Logic and came up with some cool chords; the melody and words came super fast. I ended up writing the verses and chorus the same night.
Your debut single Party People has amassed over 50K streams since September, that’s a fantastic achievement, how does that feel?
It feels really good to know that people are receptive to it. I really didn’t know what to expect; I was just happy to be releasing music. It feels AMAZING.
You have teamed up with producer Jesse O’Brien (Natasha Bedingfeild, Wu-Tang, Alabama Shakes) on this release, what sparked this collaboration?
Jesse produced my debut single, ‘Party People’, as well, and after working with him the first time it only made sense to go back with him. I’ve worked with several producers, but Jesse was different. He actually cares and is very passionate about what he’s doing. Jesse is a wizard!
You call Heartbreaker a brand of club-pop, can you tell us a little more about the genre?
Club pop is a genre I’m crafting – it is a creation and vibration of all of my heaviest influences in music and popular culture.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
It would have to be Quincy Jones. Although, it would be awesome to be able to play the piano for Sade.
Other than music, what are you passionate about?
Language and travelling. I moved to France when I was 18 and learned the language as well. It would be cool to be able and spend time in several different countries and learn their language and culture.
What changes would you like to see in the music business?
I would like to see more women in the business. It’ll be nice to see women win Producer of the Year or Executive of the Year, and not just one, but a lot. I think the business needs that energy; it’s been so ego-driven for too long when the music is so pure.
If you could choose one thing for fans to take away from your music, what would it be?
The law of one. LOVE.
Have you started working on your next release?
I go back in the studio with Jesse O’Brien on Nov. 7th to record the next release!
