Old Man Soul Club – ‘Modern Jimmy’

Released on the 1st February 2021, ‘Modern Jimmy’ is the stunning latest album by London-based band Old Man Soul Club. It is a classic rock release that will stand the test of time.

‘Two Into One’ opens the release and sets the scene beautifully as to what is to come. The soulful nature of the track is intoxicating and instantly draws the listener in.

We enjoyed ‘Brilliance’ from the solo electric guitar opening, the instrumentation evolves before the listener. ‘Punk’ is engaging from the get-go. The instrumentation’s balance is exquisite, and layers of harmony create a brilliant colour to the piece.

‘The Streets’ is an excellent track filled with a catchy melody that will have you reaching for the repeat button. ‘What Good Is Anyone’ closes the sixteen-track release and left us wanting more!

Old Man Soul Club say about the release, “Modern Jimmy took on a form of his own, but initially, the idea was to write an album about a character who had lost his identity and was searching his box of memories trying to rediscover himself.”

They continue, “In the process of recording and writing the single and album it became clear that Jimmy was writing his own story, Jimmy was lots of people we knew from past, present and ourselves.”

Old Man Soul Club are comprised of band members Steve Hanshaw – Songwriter, Vocals and Acoustic Guitar, Dee Slim – Electric Guitar, Jeremy Nobes – Bass, Jerome Forman – Drums and Cheryl Hanshaw – Piano, Hammond Organ and Keys. It is clear that they are all excellent musicians in their own right, but magic happens when they come together.

So make sure you check out ‘Modern Jimmy’ today. Old Man Soul Club are releasing indie-rock music that needs to be heard!
