Ravenscroft are a 4 piece Alternative Rock Band hailing from Orange Country, California. The band are comprised of Ralph Buso (Vocals), Brett “Octane” Gorke (Guitars), Devin Baker (Bass) and Pat Magrath (Drums). Their latest release EP ‘Rebel’ was released in March 2018 is a fine piece of artistry.

The feel of the EP ‘Rebel’ is big, bold and full of high energy. The EP as a whole is incredibly impressive and immersive. One listen is not enough, the catchy guitar riffs and purposeful lyrics will have you going back time and time again.

All of the tracks are of a high standard with excellent musicianship. Some of the tracks have percussive starts, setting the scene for the beat to come.  From the catchy track ‘Stand Up’ to the softer and more sensitive ‘My Dearest One’, they are all filled with Ravenscroft’s trade mark guitars, phat kicks and fresh sound.

The stand out tune for us is ‘The Chase’. It is a class A song with character and texture. The middle has a drum break followed but a unguarded bass  line holding its own before the impressive solo kicks in. This all adds to it’s texture and creates a diverse sonic landscape. ‘Rebel’s’ artwork is modern, eye catching and stylish – the perfect accompaniment to a brilliant EP.

Ravenscroft’s sound reminds us of Faith No More mixed with Soundgarden and with a touch of Tool thrown in. Having said all of that, they create a sound all of their own and a listening experience fit for kings. If you’re looking for a head banging yet sensitive sonic experience, filled with kick ass riffs and catchy melodies, this EP is for you!
