Specialists – ‘Too Easy’
Hailing from New York City, Specialists are a compelling band who have released the superb EP Too Easy’, in July 2020.
‘Thanks, Boss’ opens the EP. Its attention-grabbing staccato beginning is compelling. The funk groove breaks through, and the vocals with their catchy melodies are thoroughly addictive. We have added it to our playlist, check it out here.
Other stand out tracks include ‘Come Over’ and ‘Wake Up’. ‘Come Over’ has a smooth draw, which accompanies a warm production. The layered vocals are scrumptious with unpredictable chordal progressions. ‘Wake Up’ opens to delicious layered guitars, and the song evolves with the listener. The chorus is memorable and will have the audience reaching for the repeat button. A truly beautiful composition.
In addition, we adore the mix, production and master of the EP. Each part of the varied instrumentation has its own space in the mix, and a harmonious balance has been achieved.
Quarantine
Specialists say about the release, “As a result of this project being written during quarantine, the lyrical content uses intense imagery to depict an imaginary social life.” They continue, “Within the dual vocal parts, you will find a characterization of the bandmates themselves singing about where they long to be.”
They state that creating this set of songs was challenging for the duo as they were written & recorded entirely during quarantine over the internet. They have done an excellent job in creating songs that feel connected, the duo to each other and to their audience.
