Stephanie Seymour – ‘There Was A Time’
‘There Was A Time’ is the excellent latest release from Ringwood-based artist Stephanie Seymour. It is an indie-rock song that needs to be heard this February 2022.
From the start, a full band fills the sonic spectrum. Stephanie Seymour’s soulful vocals ring out and instantly demands the listener’s attention. As the chorus hits, the toe-tapping nature of ‘There Was A Time’ is infectious.
We adore the heartfelt, relatable lyrics; Seymour connects to her audience effortlessly. It feels as though she is singing directly to you.
In addition, the backing instrumentation is layered and varied. The keys, guitars and backing vocals add extra interest and intrigue to the track. All of this makes for an irresistible single that will have you reaching for the repeat button!
Seymour composed ‘There Was A Time’ after Eddie Van Halen’s death. She thought about his wife Valerie Bertinelli, and about their hay days in the ’80s and ’90s.
Seymour says, “Though I wrote the song with them in mind, the lyrics are universal and relevant to anyone who has fond memories that are brought back by photos, music, or whatever it may be.”
She continues, “I wanted to create a celebratory song that people can relate to, especially as there have been such difficult circumstances affecting us all during the last couple of years.”
Seymour is joined by Ira Elliot (Nada Surf, Bambi Kino) on drums and Bob Perry (Winter Hours) on guitars and bass on the single. All of the musicians are excellent in their respective fields. Together, the team have crafted a song that will stand the test of time.
Seymour is an artist who knows her craft well. She began as the drummer in The Aquanettas in 1989. Since then, she has joined multiple bands. She is an artist who is continually pushing boundaries.
After hearing ‘There Was A Time’, we can’t wait to check out Seymour’s back catalogue too!
So make sure you add ‘There Was A Time’ to your weekday playlist. Stephanie Seymour is an artist who is here to stay!
