‘Killing Fields’ is the superb latest single by Copenhagen-based indie rock trio, The Great Dictators.
Delicious synths and an addictive beat opens the release and lay the solid foundations for the vocals to spring from. The vocals are emotive and stoic as they guide the song along and they show great versatility in range and texture too.
There are dancing synths underpinning the vocals that enhance the lead. They add colour and texture too. We loved the effected vocals in places that are filled with charm and character. The drums feel like the heartbeat of the single, being the one constant, driving the song along.
There is also a stunning video which accompanies the release. It is filled with intriguing black and white images that suit the music well. The Great Dictators say, “The video is packed with old fuzzy footage from the first half of the 20th century. The clips might seem like distant memories but also tell us about today in the West.”
Comprised of band members: Jakob Lundorff, Christoffer Hein, and Dragut Lugalzagosi, The Great Dictators are a superb trio of musicians who when they play together, make magic. They have an impressive back catalogue of albums and EPs that we can not wait to discover this week.
We are so excited to see The Great Dictators are set to release their latest album, ‘One Eye Opener’ on 17th April 2020 on Celebration Records. After hearing the strength of ‘Killing Fields’, we can not wait to listen to the full album!
The Great Dictators are en excellent band who are making brilliant music that needs to be heard! We can not wait to hear what they will do next!
