The Issues – ‘My Ex Stacey’

Hailing from Exeter, the alternative-rock band The Issues have released their excellent latest single ‘My Ex Stacey’, in September 2020.

An enigmatic and melodic bass opens the release. It is accompanied by stoic drums, before a dreamy guitar joins too. The driving vocals are charming and captivate the audience. We love the fun and catchy nature of the single, it’s infectious!

The chorus is memorable and stays with the listener long after the music has ended. The song evolves in front of the listener, but the feel-good feeling continues throughout the release.

The #1 Writing Tool

The band say about the single, “‘My Ex Stacey’ is all about chasing a high. Whether its the feeling someone gives you, or the feeling something gives you, that first time is never going to be beaten no matter how hard you try. It’s an ode to crazy nights in crazy places with crazy people.”

Recorded in Lockdown

‘My Ex Stacey’ has been recorded in lockdown, and mixed by Bicycle Day (friends of the band). In addition, the single was mastered by Dead Basic in Manchester. The team have done an excellent job in creating a piece of art that is ear-catching and memorable.

Comprised of band members Joe Jenkins – vocals, guitar and lyrics, Joe Kurzawa – lead guitar, Chris Otun – bass, and Mike Slack – drums, the band are all great musicians. They made their debut at the Exeter Cavern in February 2020, but like many of us, Coronavirus has stopped further gigs….. for now.

So make sure you add ‘My Ex Stacey’ to your weekend playlist. The Issues are a band with a bright future, and we look forward to hearing what will come next. Until then, ‘My Ex Stacey’ is available from the link below.
