Three Day Monk – ‘I Wish You Were Dead’
Bedford-based artist Three Day Monk has released the superb single ‘I Wish You Were Dead’, in January 2021. It is a brilliant alternative-rock release that you do not want to miss!
An atmospheric piano opens the piece before soulful and enticing vocals begin. We love the quick changes in the melody throughout, which instantly adds intriguing texture into the piece.
The layered vocals are beautiful. The composition and arrangement of ‘I Wish You Were Dead’ are simply sublime. We found the innovative composition to be refreshing and sets this release apart from the crowd. Three Day Monk is a talented musician who is continually pushing boundaries.
Three Day Monk says about the release, “The single is partially inspired by the pandemic and the added effect onto an individuals psyche. It covers isolation, self-affliction and takes influence from another keen interest: filmmaking.”
He continues, “A part of one’s self often goes into the track, but for the most part, the tracks tell a narrative of a fictional character to emphasise with.”
Matty Moon
‘I Wish You Were Dead’ has been masterfully recorded by Matty Moon and the team have done an excellent job in creating a single which will stand the test of time.
Three Day Monk cites his influences as coming from artists such as Ben Howard, Incubus, and Fantastic Negrito. We can hear these artists coming through on ‘I Wish You Were Dead’ but make no mistake; Three Day Monk is making music all of his own.
Three Day Monk (AKA Tristan Nelson) is a talented artist who is releasing relevant and innovative music. ‘I Wish You Were Dead’ is no exception!
We can not recommend ‘I Wish You Were Dead’ highly enough and eagerly anticipate what Three Day Monk will do next!
