Vanessa Anne Redd – ‘Dark Minds’

Hailing from London, musician Vanessa Anne Redd has released the excellent single ‘Dark Minds’ in November 2020. It is a folk-rock release that is making waves this winter.

A stripped-back opening greets the audience. Bass and drums lay the solid foundation for the vocals to shine. We love Vanessa Anne Redd’s voice; it is rich and warm, instantly demanding the audience’s attention.

Lyrically, ‘Dark Minds’ is relatable, and this is a big part of the single’s appeal. The song evolves before the listener, and the layered instrumentation adds their unique colour and texture to the piece. In addition, the main melody is memorable. We adore the bridge which takes the song into a new direction, keeping the audience on their toes and the song feeling fresh.

Redd says about the release, “This is my first single from my third solo album which will be out next year. The single is called ‘Dark Minds’, and it’s a joyful garage rock stomper about the beauty of the darkness leading us out, about the optimism of wishful thinking, hope and us conquering all in the end! Let’s go KICK this year out!” Amen! This is just the message we all need to hear at the moment, and Redd is delivering it in the best way possible!

Analogue

Interestingly, ‘Dark Minds’ was recorded and mixed on analogue tape and 70s equipment at Gizzard Studios in London. The warmth in the recording comes through, and we adore the production and mastering of the single.

So make sure to add ‘Dark Minds’ to your weekday playlist. Vanessa Anne Redd is an exciting artist, and we can not wait for the full album to drop. Until then, ‘Dark Minds’ is available from the link below.
