Hailing from Manchester, musician 4FLO MUSIC (AKA Ben Partington), released his magnificent latest single in March 2020. It is a song filled with heart and soul, a thoroughly addictive listen.
Synths with an underpinning melody open the single. Layered instrumentation bursts into the sonic spectrum, and this is followed by Ben’s sung vocals, adding their guiding light to the single. Ben effortlessly switches from rapping to singing in the beginning, keeping the listener on their toes. Lyrically ‘Running Around’ is engaging and relatable.
The drums are punchy and varied. They provide a stoic backbone for the single and allows the other instrumentation to spring from. We loved the subtle yet integral guitar licks that fill the sound providing their unique colour to the piece.
Ben says, “I think the majority of songs I write are influenced by what’s going on around us and the way I feel about it. It’s just my say and opinion on that. The underlying point I want to have through my songs is growth and gaining knowledge and strength from the more difficult points in life. Not that I’ve always done that myself, but I’ve at least tried to when the fog clears!”
Ben is a talented singer, songwriter, rapper and producer. All of these skills culminate on ‘Running Around’ and make for an exciting and exhilarating single. He is influenced by the music his parents grew up listening to, Motown and Soul to RNB and 80s; he fuses it with Hip Hop to form the unique and innovating music we hear on ‘Running Around’.
