Catalina Skies – ‘Fear King Kong’

London based Indie Pop/Rock band Catalina Skies, released their excellent latest single, ‘Fear King Kong’ on 27th March 2020. It is an addictive song that will have you reaching for your dancing shoes!

A palm-muted electric guitar and character-filled vocals open the release. A kick drum appears and feels like the heartbeat of the song. We adored the layered vocals giving further depth to the track. The chorus is driving, catchy and memorable, with the main melody feeling thoroughly addictive. The dancing high hats on the second verse are thoroughly engaging too.

We also adored the driving, busy, and heavy guitar sections that are wonderfully juxtaposed to the middle eight break. It hears the majority of the instrumentation cut away, and the emotion-filled vocals are left before a huge chorus returns. It is composition and arrangement at its finest. Catalina Skies are destined to be added to your weekday playlist!

Catalina Skies say about the release, “It is an emotionally charged track about despair and feelings of anxiety, turning into feelings of hope. We hope you enjoy listening.” We certainly did!

Citing their influences as Enter Shikari, Foo Fighters, and The Strokes, we can hear these artists coming through in ‘Fear King Kong’. However, Catalina Skies make music all of their own. They are excellent musicians in their respective fields, but when they play together, magic happens.

So add Catalina Skies to your bands to watch this decade. Based on the strength of ‘Fear King Kong’ they are going to be big players in the Indie scene, and we can not wait to hear what they will do next.
