Conrad Deadly – ‘Cults’

Originally from Yorkshire, Margate based artist Conrad Deadly releases his second single ‘Cults’, today 18th May 2020.

A big electrified opening greets the listener. Luscious guitar riffs and driving drums fill the sonic landscape. Conrad Deadly’s intoxicating vocals enter and masterfully guide the song along. They have a punk feeling in the verses and melodic tone in the chorus; this juxtaposition in styles seamlessly transition between the two. We loved the catchy chorus which is destined to have you reaching for the repeat button.

‘Cults’ has been produced by Dan White (ex Tribes member), and also features George Le Page on drums. Together the team have produced a single that is a classic in the making. The music video to follow ‘Cults’ was shot in Conrad’s home town of Margate. It features a scary clown couple who try to rob a cashless society before escaping in an old Golf after kidnapping Conrad. Conrad Deadly says, “(‘Cults’) is about the realisation that everything is a Cult, from football to the bread we buy. The song came after a close friend was almost taken in by a Cult.” This talented musician also designs the artwork for his releases and directs the music videos.

‘Cults’ is the follow-up single to Conrad Deadly’s debut ‘Sally Lives In My Girls Yard’ which we reviewed here. ‘Cults’ continues in the same intoxicating indie-rock vein, and we are sure it will again win the hearts of Conrad Deadly’s fans.

So make sure you add ‘Cults’ to your weekday playlist. Conrad Deadly is an exciting talent who is making waves, even during a lockdown! We look forward to hearing what he will do next!
