Jonny Morgan – ‘Hurt Me’
Musician Jonny Morgan released his divine latest single ‘Hurt Me’, on the 28th February 2020. We have been lucky enough to review it and are so excited to have discovered the exciting talent that Morgan is.
Firstly, a beautifully picked/strummed acoustic guitar opens the single. Morgan’s unmistakable vocals swiftly accompany it. They are full-bodied, use double-tracking and are utterly delicious. Subtle keys appear in the background and add further colour to the piece.
We also loved the lyrics which fill the release. They are relatable, and we feel they will resonate with a lot of listeners. The chorus lyrics have a gorgeous hook that stays with the listener long after the music has ended. We found the instrumentation arrangement of ‘Hurt Me’ stunning, rising and falling, creating its own waves.
“This track is a fresh start for myself and was recorded with one of my favourite artists Joel Levi in his Nashville studio. Being so fond of Americana/roots music and growing up in the UK, this was a great deal to myself. I’ve been lucky so far, both BBC Introducing, Sofar Sounds and Alex Rainbird have taken this tune, I really hope you like it.”
Morgan made his debut at Glastonbury in 2019, and alongside being a Sofar Sounds alumni and favourite. In addition, he has supported Turin brakes, Wildwood Kin and Rob Vincent. In December 2019 Morgan recorded his new single alongside Levi. What a superb job the duo have done together.
One thing is for sure; Morgan is an exciting artist who is just beginning. To sum up, 2020 will be a big year for Morgan, and we can not wait to hear the music he will release next! Until then check out ‘Hurt Me’ from the link below.
