London based pop artist Le Fil, has released the catchy single ‘BOYO’ in February 2020 and it is a thoroughly addictive song.
Synths and a rich bass open the single before Le Fil’s rich vocals kick in. They guide the track effortlessly. The vocal melody is infectious, and the upbeat nature of the single will have you reaching for the repeat button. We adored the layered vocals which fill the sonic landscape. Le fil is using his significant platform to spread a positive message and aid change. ‘BOYO’ is the positive message the world needs and Le Fil delivers it with elegant sass.
Le Fil says, “My new single ‘BOYO’ is inspired by growing up in a small Yorkshire town called Brighouse and learning about my identity. It’s a song that describes how we can be fluid and re-think the notions of masculinity and gender – which I think is really important in this current social climate. I go by he/him as pronouns but am often misgendered, with people referring to me as a she because of aspects of my appearance like long hair or androgynous clothes!” He continues, “I don’t mind as I’ve gotten used to it and it lends itself to certain situations, but I think it’s always important to say – I’m not emulating a woman, I’m reinventing what it means to be a man!”
We love the way that Le Fil challenges our everyday expectations of gender and genre with his music. He is innovating, challenging stereotypes and leading the way in reinventing pop music, redefining a generation.
So make sure you check out this exciting release. Le Fil is a formidable artist, and we can not wait to see what he will do next!
