Brighton based musician Michael Baker, released his spellbinding latest single, ‘They Look Just Like They Know’ on 24th January 2020.
A wonderfully picked acoustic guitar opens the single which is being underpinned by gorgeous strings. The vocals enter, swimming in luscious reverb. They are filled with warmth and charm and emanate emotion and heart from their core.
The relatable lyrics enhance the single. Lyrics such as, “The mind can be a deadly place,” has an honest vulnerability to them which will resonate with the song’s listeners. We are sure ‘They Look Just Like They Know’ will be a massive hit with Americana fans worldwide.
Baker says, “I wrote ‘They Look Just Like They Know’ when I had moved to Brighton after spending a couple of years of living in my Van and moving around.” He continues, “This song is a melancholic ponder on both the comfort and discomfort of memories and how sometimes, in the darker times, your own home can feel strange and unfamiliar. It’s the difference between feeling at home in your mind, and feeling trapped in it.”
Baker’s previous single, ‘Past The Evening’ was premiered by Clash magazine and they described it as, “a tender return, showcasing the songwriter’s deftness of touch, and his gilded use of colour.” Also during his career, he has supported Sarah Jarosz at Union Chapel, performed at the inaugural Black Deer Festival and completed a UK and European tour in November 2019.
We are so pleased to see that Baker has a new EP entitled ‘Salt’ which is due for release on 6th March 2020. It is a date for your diary, and we can not wait to hear it!
