Moody Bats – ‘Blessing’

‘Blessing’ is the divine latest album by Georgia based duo, Moody Bats. This compelling 15 track album is filled with stunning melodies, delicious grooves and compositions filled with heart.

‘Water’ opens the release. The sound of waves and beautifully picked guitars slowly float into the sonic spectrum. A calming and peaceful scene is set, and this continues until a gentle fade waves goodbye to the song. We loved ‘Ages’ it has beautiful vocals and relatable lyrics from the get-go. It is a fuller band sound from the opening track, and this makes for a fascinating juxtaposition. ‘Don’t Break My Heart’ has an acoustic rock vibe. It’s catchy melody, and layered instrumentation will have you reaching for the repeat button!

‘We Won’t Back Down’ features layered vocals from the outset, an organ adds its distinctive colour to the piece, and the stripped backed instrumentation makes for a relaxing listen. We loved ‘Frames’ for its intriguing use of synths and addictive melodies.

The duo says, ‘”Blessing’ was written partly as a way of bringing something light into an increasingly dark world.” They continue, “(We) love it when an album has its own world you can get lost in, we tried to do that with this album. ‘Blessing’ started to take on themes of water and light shining through dark. We hope this comes through in the music.”

‘Blessing’ was entirely written and produced by the duo in their home. They have done an excellent job on the mix, master and production of the album. Each part of the instrumentation has its own space in the mix, and everything comes together to create one cohesive piece of art.

Released officially in February 2020, ‘Blessing’ is available to stream now. So add it to your week day playlist, you will not be disappointed!
