Hailing from Australia’s Gold Coast, Parker Sounds are an indie-rock band whose latest release ‘Prison Cell’ is a compelling and addictive track.
An acoustic guitar opens the release. There is a wonderful tone in the slap of the performance. Sparse instrumentation enters too, and the characterful vocals follow this. They are filled with charm and attention-grabbing qualities that are mesmerising. We adored the full band sound when it begins; it add layers to the piece. Also, the genuinely honest lyrics are destined to resonate with its listener, and we believe many people will find solace within them.
Parker Sounds say about the release, “This track explores the mental prison we all spend time in at some point – a place to question our choices and how it impacts how we are. ‘Prison Cell’ was a crowd in the short time before Covid-19 came to town.”
Parker Sounds are comprised of Alick Kilsby – Vocals/Guitar, Jake Hobbs – Guitar/Vocals, Josh Beattie – Keyboard, Toby Young – Bass, and Guy Cornwell – Drums. They cite their influences as drawing from The Killers, Jack Johnson, Pearl Jam and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Together they are creating innovating and affecting music that needs to be heard to be fully appreciated.
‘Prison Cell’ was recorded on the Gold Coast and began general production at Bignote Studios with Tim Goodburn. The team have done a superb job in creating a superb piece of art that is making waves in the acoustic-rock scene.
So make sure you add ‘Prison Cell’ to your weekend listening. Parker Sounds are an exciting band, and we look forward to hearing what they will do next.
